His research mainly revolves around the impact of economic, social and cultural change on cities in Australia and elsewhere in the world in the twentieth century. Seamus is currently working on a project about the history of pop music in Melbourne from the 1960s to the present. He is also involved in research on Australian urbanism and water use for the CRC for Water Sensitive Cities and an emerging project on the rise and fall of the manufacturing industry in twentieth century
